About Us
Our rescue organization model is different than most. We transport our puppies and dogs up north to partner rescues that then finish the adoption process by finding loving homes for our pups. Project Safe Pet aims to reduce the volume of animals in our area through transporting and providing Low Cost No Cost assistance with spaying and neutering for pets of residents needing help.
Our northern rescue partners don't have the volume of animals in need. The south is inundated with animals due to lack of laws, education, and culture. There are countless unwanted litters that wind up in impulsive hands when being given away and even purchased, which sadly perpetuates the cycle of unaltered animals reproducing.
This model allows us to rescue, vet and provide temporary foster care until the pups are transported.
We rescue dogs and puppies from backyards, free post on social media, shelters, and the streets.
Why do we send dogs up north?

Our Mission
Project Safe Pet is 100% volunteer based, nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of dogs and cats in the Carolinas while reducing the volume of animals in need.
In order to achieve this goal we:

Provide temporary foster homes and transport hundreds of pups a year to partner rescues.

Fund Spays-Neuters for pets of residents who cannot afford it.

Support those who are working to Trap Neuter Release (TNR) feral cats

Advocate for laws that promote humane living conditions as well as a spay neuter resolution.

Educate to help to improve the lives of community dogs living outside on chains, and in pens.

Project Safe Pet received the 2021 Angel Award
The Angels honored represent organizations that exemplify charitable giving in South Carolina.
The Angels were selected by review of financial reports submitted annually to the Secretary of State’s Office, as well as by nominations from the public. To be selected as an Angel, the charity must have devoted 80 percent or more of its total expenditures to charitable programs; must have been in existence for three or more years; must make good use of volunteer services; must receive minimal funding from grants; must have a significant presence in South Carolina; and the charity must be in compliance with the South Carolina Solicitation of Charitable Funds Act.
